Dedicated to Hawaiian culture and the art of Polynesian star voyaging and navigation, our hosts combine storytelling with Hawaiian astronomy and star gazing with professional telescopes under the night sky.
We begin the evening with a film about an amazing relationship with the ocean, I just Love to Paddle (view trailer). Carmen Hetaraka and Ruia Aperahama, two Maori Ancestral Bearers from Aotearoa, will share the ancient knowledge of the first Waka or canoe through music, song and symbolism. Woven into the mo’olelo, the story of the first Waka, is the story of the stars and genealogy of the Tangata Maori and their intimate connection to the Kanaka Maoli (Hawaiian people). Star gazing led by Hoku Kane “Star Man” otherwise known as Gregory McCartney, NASA Ambassador. Dinner included. $75 inclusive.
